A pair of eighteenth century sterling silver wine coasters made in London 1799 by Peter&Ann Bateman.The sides are engraved with bunches of grapes and with vines and vine leaves. The flared edges are mounted with a thread or fluted wire.Solid silver center "bosses", with felt lined wooden bases . The crest is a lion rampant grasping a plant which appears to be a thistle. Hallmarked along the bottom edges as shown.
