Set  of 3 Oval Georgian Silver Meat Dishes 1817

A matching set of 3 George III silver trays made in London 1817 by John Hawkins. Shaped oval form, on flat bases and with a  gadroon edge. The bases are slightly recessed for the purpose of containing any liquids from the meat or fowl, which is the purpose for which they were intended, although they would serve multiple uses. Engraved with contemporary armorials and clearly hallmarked on the backs,as shown. Large: 44cm long, small 34.5cm long. 4035 grams( 129.7 troy oz ) total weight.
