Originally commissioned by the Duke of Argyle,these were made to keep the gravy warm.The innner tube is filled with burning coals and the surround is filled up with gravy.Hallmarked underneath(shown) , inside the cover, the inner tube and the pull off cover of the inner tube.Dark brown fruitwood handle and finial.
